We Blew Away MoveOn!

We won this one, but there will be many others;  and soon.  All of us need to be alert and to get involved locally.

UPDATE: More pictures!  Thanks, Jean And Q!

UPDATE2: Another video.  Excellent production work, but they really need to learn how George Soros spells his name. (Hey, we’ve got no paid professionals doing this).

With about 36 hours to organize and no paid staff (unlike the other side), we dominated in front of Sen. Cornyn’s office today (July 23rd); about 200 conservatives opposing maybe 20 MoveOn people; it was fantastic!  Everyone was polite; we always are.  As for the other side, if you were outnumbered 10 to 1 by believers in the 2nd Amendment, wouldn’t you be? :) (ed. the previous statement is considered a murder threat by the FireDogLake fringe; they really should oppose Obamacare, because whatever heady-duty meds they must be on will likely be rationed).

Channel 5 was there, along with other press; they’ll try to slant things more evenly, but it will be hard to do.

Many thanks for the great work of Que Colman and Jim Bright to make this happen, plus Ken Emmanual for the callout of the troops  from the Dallas Tea Party.  Others too numerous to mention to thank for their efforts, so THANK YOU ALL for giving us this public victory over government HealthUNCare.

UPDATE: And now a report from our resident counter-insurgent and debater Jim Bright:

The first Obamaphile I had a conversation with threw in the towel very quickly admitting that Obama’s rush to get the plan through congress was a bad idea.  Her fallback position was that she was out there to keep momentum for it going.  Then a tea party member came up ranting and spoiled it for me.  I tried to ward him off with some winks, he got it at first, but then couldn’t restrain himself.  I may have gotten a convert there without the interruption.  She did direct me to someone else she thought was more knowledgeable, but his intellect quickly crumbled, and to his credit, he began questioning it, so he went to get one of their “intellectual leaders” (snicker) who tried his propaganda arguements while the other two stayed silent and listened.  He argued his case best he could, but it was deeply flawed.  Arguements like it will be cheaper than the Iraq war (Yabut, the Iraq war will end.  All wars end.  Healthcare never will.)  I was able to turn his logic around through simple questions, and got him to tie himself up in knots.

I don’t think I won a convert in the intellectual, but at a minimum I distracted him for over 30 minutes, and the younger liberal clearly began struggling with his blind devotion.  Maybe, just maybe it will be an impetus for him to dig a little deeper, and some day come around.

Other efforts bearing similar fruit: Long Island (with video of ACORN getting ugly), Orlando, North Carolina.  There will be street actions we won’t overwhelm the professionals, but they losing in their element too often for them to feel very comfortable.  And even the MSM cannot paint their efforts anymore as ‘popular support’.

  22. Bob Says:

Way to go, people! Yeah, I don’t want to have health care that I can afford! No way! If I lose my job, I don’t want to be able to have health care! Heck, where would I get the money to pay for it if I have no job? Let’s kill this health care thing once and for all! Let’s keep making the insurance companies rich! It’s more important for the insurance companies to make a LOT of money than it is for me to have affordable health care. Thank you, thank you!

    • Babydoc Says:

Bob, people like you who seem to think that health care is a “right” fail to grasp that your stance requires doctors, nurses, lab/radiology/respiratory techs and the like to become SLAVES. Nazi health care mandates rationing, and sets slave wages for medical personnel. You think there is a health care crisis now, wait until doctors are told they can’t make more than what the government will allow them, while opening up even more ridiculous malpractice abuse lawsuits. See how great that “free” health care is once there aren’t any doctors around. I didn’t bust my backside through 8 years of expensive schooling and 6 years of residency and subspecialty training to work as a slave while getting sued and taxed to death. Why are basic principles of liberty and integrity so hard for leftists to understand?

  23. Mike O Says:

Bob: how much of the preliminary bill have you read? Here’s a link to some of the low points being Twittered from DC, from someone actually with copies and is plowing through it all.

If the Berlin wall *does* go up, there’ll be a lot of us in Ocala/Marion County, FL heading your way and we hope you guys let us into the TX side. We’re sort of a conclave of conservativism surround by a nest of liberals.

  26. Mike O Says:

Since Bob is internet-search-challenged, here’s the link to the full House bill as it stood a couple days ago. I got about 50 pages in before my stomach couldn’t stand it; I’ll take it back up this weekend. Already that far in, I’d found enough to realize it was the destruction of good parts health care as we know it. And likely will result in the crippling of my son, among other things. Couple that with the fact my mother just passed away under medicare/medicaid, the need for proper health care is VERY personal with me.

  27. Rob Says:

Great work Teabaggers. Are you sure it isn’t Kool-Aid? You are doing the bidding for the fat cat insurance mafia. They are in the business of maximizing profits by getting the highest rates from their customers, denying claims, denying coverage to millions and spending millions to buy off legislators. You are in bed with the likes of AIG. Think about that. You are doing the bidding for the people who have been screwing you. Ironically, it is much like the way the fundamentalists Christians were used by the ultra wealthy Republicans to attain power. Once they got in, they laughed and ridiculed the Christians. Fools and tools, no place but Texas. You will get what you deserve.

    • Marilyn Says:

No one is saying that we don’t need reform. We do, just not with a public option. We need to START with Torte Reform, you are right about the insurance companies, they are corrupt and have a monopoly going. I think the best solution I have heard so far is the Co-Op idea. The insurance companies DO need reform, they need competition but NOT with the government. No one wins when the government becomes involved. If this bill is passed millions of people who get their health insurance from employer benefits will be dumped into the government system. There is no incentive for the employers to stay in, they will actually MAKE money by dumping their employees. They are now required to provide insurance equal to 15% of the employees salary. The penalty for NOT providing insurance will be 8%. Don’t think they will think twice. And if you agree that everyone 65 yrs old and older should be required to have end of life counseling every 5 yrs and having a formula used to determine whether you will received the hip replacement, then by all means support this bill. I’ve read most of this bill and it is scary! We will all be old someday but we may not live to see it. Obamacare will see to that.

    • Dave Says:

Grow up Rob, stop calling names and understand you are advocating a permanent babysitter take care of your every need. 84 % of all Americans are actually satisfied with their health coverage and know there is no crisis!

    • Babydoc Says:

And your oh-so-tolerant leftist rantings are supposed to represent what passes for liberal “thought”. You leftists are so jealous and angry that someone else may have something that you don’t…and you just can’t stand it, can you? How does stealing from producers and earners to give to the lazy moochers make things better? If you want something GO EARN IT! Stop trying to steal from me! I don’t owe you an easy life. Your healthcare is not the responsibility of anyone but YOU to take care of! What you eat, drive, wear or live in is not anybody else’s concern or responsibilty! How does whining and writhing over the wealth of Bill Gates or Michael Jordan do anything to improve your life? How is it moral for you to steal from someone and give to another who hasn’t earned it? It ain’t charity if you pull a gun on me to get it…

    • Bob Says:

We must keep the insurance companies wealthy! Afterall, they give us our health care. Oh wait, I get my health care from my doctor. Okay, now I’m confused. The underclass continues to make the rich even richer.

  29. Dave Says:

      • Dave Says:

A poll conducted by the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Zogby International (http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.cfm?ID=1722) finds that 84 percent of Americans, including 46 percent of Americans without health care insurance, are “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the health care they currently receive.

Seems like Texas is leading the pack!

  31. mi_dave Says:

I have a good friend who desparately needs by-pass, but has no insurance. A national health plan sounds like a good deal. However, in discussing it with her, I pointed out that because of her overall health and age, under Obama’s plan, instead of getting the by-pass, she would probably get advice on how to “die with dignity”. That is why I strongly oppose THIS plan. Healthcare reform, we need. Socialized medicine, we don’t.

Well, now you made he have to look through things, John. You see, we don’t set our standards one way or another by skin tone; we’re just all Americans. I get kind of tired of a white Tea Partier is a racist meme; however, my Chinese wife Wasian son (they call themselves that), and my ugandan daughter never seem to tire of laughing at fools such as yourself.

So let me revisit: If you’d watched local Spanish TV, you’d seen our Cuban contingent blowing MoveOn out of the water. Sadly, though, his skin would be too white for you to know he was Cuban. A Colombian couple was down on the Tollway corner: their skin was darker than most African-Americans, we had several Asians, and the video above was shot by a Russian. He also had several physically handicapped people. I guess next time we need to take a poll and find out how many of our members are gay. However, all in all, we had more minorities than did the MoveOn group that showed up.

Does that fill your quota, John? Or did you something in mind other than an easy dismissal to not have to strain your brain over.

Oh Rob, Rob. The good doctor paid his taxes for those things like everyone else who pays taxes. He paid for all of those services which are an obligation in most cities and states under their constitutions. Healthcare is not a right under anyone’s constitution. Not Texas, Not USA. He worked for for his money and was paid what his services are worth, well maybe depends on what his insurance reimbursements and govt. reimbursements were. And by the way what is he paying his staff with? Boy really looking out for those people and there jobs eh Rob. Rob? How fitting.
