TeaApproved: Gail Spurlock for State Board of Education, District 12

March 4, 2012

Public education is simply broken.  American kids are now ranked 17th globally, with massively increased spending per student over the last 2 decades, and get lower scores and graduation rates.  Kids leave school without the ability to put together a coherent resume, and many lacking the skills, work ethic and values necessary to get and keep a decent job.  Many point of failure here but the point is, the ‘same-ol,same-ol’ people and approaches won’t fix anything.

Gail brings a different and highly analytical experience into the race and is not afraid to rock the boat and ask the probing questions necessary to get the SBOE thinking about the need for fundamental change.  the curriculum needs to be looked at, not only to roll back much of the social engineering content, but to add back some of the old styles of information-based education that originally put Americans in the lead.  Gail will be a strong dose of different insights and approaches, something the SBOE desperately needs.

TeaApproval for Collin County Court at Law #2

March 3, 2012

This one was tough and could only be settled by TeaApproving 2 fine candidate.  The first is Gene Sera, whose experience and constitutionalist understanding are worth noting, but he also has the thoughtful, quiet demeanor one likes in a man who would act as judge in our cases.  Hes dedication to the youth is also clear and quite admirable.

The second TeaApproved Candidate for this race is Barnett Walker, whose service to this country is stuff of legends and who has a strong record as prosecutor and some great ideas on improving cost efficiency of courtroom activities.

Both men would make fine judges with a proper understanding of Constitutional law, fine experience and and excellent work ethics.

TeaApproved: Scott Turner for Texas House, District 33

March 3, 2012

TeaApproving Scott Turner was a very straight-forward and enthusiastic affair.  Scott is as rock-solid in conservatism as he is in physique, with an ability to lead from the podium or one-on-one.  He has the strength that faith will give- and the practical eye of one experienced in the world.  Never has a novice impressed us with his potential to not only be a voice in a conservative Texas House, but be a LEADER in such a legislature.  Every attempt to throw Scott a curveball in the vetting session was handled thoughtfully and masterfully. He is clearly focused in a way the ‘Powers that be’ will find difficult to disrupt or tempt.  His opponent is a fine man; but Scott’s potential is so great, there was little to discuss after review and interview.  (And we will endeavor NOT to hold the fact that he once played for the Redskins it against him… too much :) )

TeaApproved: Jeff Leach for Teaxas House, District 67

March 3, 2012

The race is House District 67 is an embarrassment of riches race, with several candidates having good attributes.  The NTTP Vetting Committee spent about 100 combined hours on this one, reviewing all aspects of the original six candidates (now 5).  There was a fair amount of back and forth, but in the end, there was a strong consensus that Jeff Leach was preferred candidate here.  Jeff’s solid principles, anchored by a great family and his faith, is best suited to withstand the siren song of ‘the ways things are’ in Austin and will serve his constituents well.  He is young and dynamic, with lots of energy and drive for the battles ahead.  We look forward in supporting Jeff, and ask our good conservative members and friends to do likewise.
